(Updated 6-18-18)   SBR Soldier was selected earlier this year by the equine staff at Rutgers University for their annual Rutgers University Teaching Herd project (RUTH).  The equine department selects approx 10 horses of different breeds for a student training project.  The emphasis is on good health practices, learning good grooming skills and working with the horses on the ground to include general manners and training for in hand competition at the conclusion of the project at the Rutgers Ag Field Day celebration the end of April.  Saddlebred Rescue has participated in the program for several years and the saddlebreds have been school favorites.  SBR Soldier has now been back with us since May and he is ready to find a home.  You can see the before and after pictures for the year or so that he has been in our program. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX  (Updated 10-10-2017)  This chestnut gelding came in May 1st this year.  His tail looks like it has been in a set.  When we first got him he appeared body sore so after evaluation he was just turned out over the summer.  He is back now with regular work.  Soldier was a little crooked to the right which is no big deal but we work with him to get him more straight.  He cantered well on the right lead and on the left he was a little shuffley (sp).  He is a nice high headed gelding. Look for more evaluation comments going forward.
