(Update 6-19-18)  Olaf's ground manners are excellent as he excelled when he was at Rutgers.  This horse had been shown before going on the road and he is registered.  He is not overly high headed but collects up nicely.  He is best suited for the Academy Division. Olaf is not for beginners as he has some git up and go and does better with a relaxed rider.  Olaf has been waiting for the right person to come along. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX   (Updated 2/20/17)  Olaf has been donated for 3 months to a Rutgers Equine Program where for 3  months the horses will be worked by the students primarily from the ground.  There will be a concluding event on April 29th from 10 am - 5 pm in New Brunswick, NJ where the students will present the horses and the public can come and visit the rescues that are available for adoption.  If interested please contact us for details.  This horse was sponsored for this program by the local Saddlebred club, ASHA NJ and others.     XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Updated 1/12/2017)  SBR Olaf (Roy) is a reg. 16.1 hand, 2005 gelding that we purchased from an Amish man. I was told this was one of his favorite horses but that this horse had trouble staying sound on the road. It was important to the man this horse did not go to slaughter. During his evaluation Olaf was little cold backed but did work out of it and did not buck. This gelding did however do three gaits and just needs a little work to polish them up. Olaf is a testimony to the versatility of Saddlebreds, as he rides, drives well, can pull logs out of woods, drive through deep snow, and very traffic safe. The man told me whatever he ask this horse to do he did even when others horses would not. I think this horse could make one of the best trail horses. We have not had this horse long, ( from Dec. 2016 ) so he needs more rides to be sure on what he is best suited for. In Olaf’s eval. He cantered collected, had a smooth trot and we could see his tail had been in a set in the past.
